CBD is making big headlines this week, so we wanted to make sure everyone has the facts on the confirmed treatment and possible health benefits.
There is one FDA approved use so far with more to come. Epidiolex became the first cannabis-derived therapy to be approved by the FDA as a treatment for two rare types of childhood-onset epilepsy (Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome). In multiple late-stage trials, GW Pharmaceuticals’ lead drug reduced seizure frequency from baseline by between 30% and 40%.
The claims that CBD cures cancer and other ailments are all based on individual user experience. In any major pharmaceutical study masses of people take the same thing and those results are determined by the total results from the group.
You might say we have had huge a pharmaceutical study happening for years now on CBD from the people who are making these claims.
The only difference is the FDA hasn’t logged all of these different folks results. The one thing that is a for sure in the case of CBD is there is no negative side effects from trying something that may actually help you. Most drugs you see on the market come with a 50 word long warning about the side effects. I for one, am exited to see CBD benefit people around the world.
